Rocking his best post-soviet look of white vest, fur coat and mullet haircut, Akurei features in a DIY music video for latest single ‘Stockholm’. It’s a lustrous pop song made up of crisp beats, glitching guitars and ambient pads. The warm production, courtesy of Akurei and close collaborator Golden Vessel, contrasts to the snowy scapes in the video, which further emphasises the Australian artist’s geographical and emotional isolation away from his home and all familiarity. As Akurei recalls, “I wrote most of this song while staying in a hostel in Berlin and would have to quickly put down vocal takes between roommates returning to the shared room I was in,” and he goes on to say that, “it covers loneliness and the longing for connection you encounter while travelling alone.” - Hannah Thacker
